Class Schedule

Week 1 (14-18 JUL): Mon, Wed, Fri at 2:00 pm - 4:20 pm

Week 2 (21-25 JUL): Mon, Wed, Fri at 2:00 pm - 4:20 pm

Week 3 (28 JUL – 1 AUG): 3-day mandatory study trip to Mainland China (exact dates to be confirmed)

Week 4 (4-8 AUG): Mon, Wed, Fri at 2:00 pm - 4:20 pm

*Students taking this special course are not allowed to take other courses offered in Session 2 of the HKUST Summer School due to scheduling conflicts with the mandatory study trip in week 3.

*Students taking this special course can also enroll in Session 1 of the HKUST Summer School to form a 8-week back-to-back experience.

Assessment, Credit and Transcript

This course is letter graded with assessment criteria as follows:

  • 15% Attendance
  • 25% Participation and contribution
  • 30% Group presentation
  • 30% Quizzes

 

HKUST will issue an academic transcript to the home institution upon participants’ satisfactory completion of the course. The home institution will determine the credit transfer in accordance with their credit transfer policies.

Study Trip to Mainland China

A study trip to Mainland China forms the highlight of this course. Arrangements for travel visa, accommodation and transportation will be made by HKUST. This study trip is a mandatory component of this course.

 

Visa Matters

Participants of the course are required to obtain the below visas:

  • Hong Kong Student Visa:
    All international students (except holders of Hong Kong Identity Card who have the right of abode or right to study in Hong Kong) are required to obtain a student visa issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department  to study in Hong Kong. HKUST will provide instructions.

  • Visa for travelling to Mainland China:
    International students, depending on your nationality, may need to obtain a visa to enter Mainland China. Note that the student visa issued by Hong Kong for taking up studies at HKUST does not grant access to Mainland China. HKUST will provide further advice and instructions.

 

Accommodation

HKUST will arrange for accommodation for the duration of the study trip. Students will be accommodated in double rooms.

 

Transportation

HKUST will arrange the transportation for the study trip. Students will travel as a group to/from Hong Kong and Mainland China.

SPECIAL FEE

A special fee will be charged for arranging travel visa, accommodation, and transportation for the study trip to Mainland China.
